"TANTAMONT TO CONSUMER FRAUD"
Here is a letter from the U.S. Cedar Shake and Shingle Bureau, dated August 19, 1991 - which should have forced our government officials to rethink the use and their support of untreated pine shakes . . .
[serious warning]
Rot Alert!
(That's German for "Red" Alert)
We've been patient with our elected officials, but this problem is not going to just 'go away' because they choose to ignore us. We're going to "battle stations" now, and hence the red (rot) highlights on the left of our web pages. Rot alert!
EVOLUTION CONTINUES
The Consumer Action Group (CAG) has now evolved into the Alberta Pine Shake Homeowners Association (APSHA). The necessary paperwork has been filed, and an appropriate logo will soon be decided on by the executive of this "not-for-profit" society.
Our Government in Action (Inaction!)
The transcripts from the Question Period on the floor of the Legislature, as found in the Hansard, indicate to us that our elected representatives are not admitting to the mistakes of the government of the day with respect to the approval of the untreated pine shakes. Please review the Nov. 17 & 18 transcripts with our 'errata' in red to see for yourself.
Concerns about Treated Pine sent to Alberta Labour Oct. 28, 1998
Here is a copy of a well reasoned approach to consumers' concerns about the latest change to the Alberta Building Code. A member of our Consumer Action Group has provided Alberta Labour with a critical analysis of the change in roofing materials (from untreated pine to treated pine) and the impact that change may have on Albertans.
Your input is requested . . .
We appreciate the work that Hugh MacDonald, MLA has been doing to get to the bottom of this important issue. He has indicated that he would appreciate hearing from people whose roofs are leaking.
As well, since he has been in contact with the Canadian distributor, he wants to hear from people who are having problems with the PQ57 spray.
Please provide what feedback you can to question@altaliberals.ab.ca
South Edmonton Support Online
A web-based Twin Brooks/Blackmud Creek-Untreated Pine Shake Roof Information Page has been created to help folks in that specific area. In addition, the committee there will be assisting in the efforts to determine responsibility and seek compensation in this Alberta-wide issue.
