Dear Mr. Holtslag:

I am replying to the letter of June 30, 1998 you sent on behalf of the Consumer Action Group On (untreated) Pine Shakes commenting on the Alberta Labour Fact Sheet, "Untreated Pine Shake Roofs."

Alberta Labour stands by the information in the Fact Sheet. It is based on information we have, the sequence of events as they occurred, and a course of action regarding inspection and replacement of shakes that we believe to be appropriate.

If the Consumer Action Group has new evidence it believes shows the information in the Fact Sheet to be in error, I would be pleased to consider it.

Alberta Labour continues to work with the Alberta Home Builders Association, the Alberta New Home Warranty Program, pine shake manufacturers and others, to help ensure consumers are provided complete, accurate and reliable information about this subject.
