ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
OCT. 17, 2002
Our AGM was held at the Alberta Teachers Association on Thursday night, October 17th.
The agenda included an update on the legal case, a financial report, elections for executive and board members, a presentation by our primary lawyer, and a question and answer period.
We had about 240 members in attendance, and as part of the business at hand we ratified a policy with respect to a penalty associated with outstanding membership fees. (Click here for the details.)

STATUS REPORT - August, 2002
Examinations for Discovery on the government officer, selected employees (and past employees, if retired), and our seven "sample cases" have been completed.
We are now awaiting the Court to set a date for the trial on the issue of liability.

Examinations for Discovery on the government officer, selected employees (and past employees, if retired), and our seven "sample cases" have been extended for various reasons, but should be done now by the end of June.
After that, a date will be set for the trial on the issue of liability.

STATUS REPORT - February, 2002
Examinations for Discovery on the government officer and selected employees (and past employees, if retired) began on Oct. 15, 2001.
The government's lawyers begin Examinations of our seven "sample cases" in February 2002, and they will likely finish them in the same month.
After that, a date will be set for the trial on the issue of liability.

CONDO INFORMATION MEETING
An information meeting to deal with condominium issues was held on Tuesday, November 13th, 2001 in Edmonton. For the 39 condominiums that have filed and served actions in the name of their associations, our lawyers will be contacting their representatives directly this spring.

INFORMATION RECEIVED
- We've been told that Shakemaster of Calgary closed their doors, phone lines, and website earlier this year. Now it seems that the employees have taken up the torch to provide the five year cycle of "warranty work" that took homeowners by surprise when they were informed of that need by the company. Good luck!
- Shake manufacturer has been found guilty of bid-rigging on purchases of timber. Part one of the story is here, and part two is here.
