POINTS TO MAKE WITH YOUR MLA AND THE PREMIER1. Alberta Labour, Forestry, and Alberta Research Council have performed some product testing for industry; why isn't there a department in our government set up to test product performance on behalf of the consumers? 2. Why is it that the Government can back industry with loans and guarantees, but will do nothing for tax-paying, voting homeowners who had nothing to do with the organization, approval, manufacturing, shipping, or selling of the untreated pine shakes?
3. What part of my financial budget would the government recommend I use to pay the (approximately) $10,000.00 in order to replace my prematurely rotting roof:
a) Food and clothing; 4. Why did the Government allow the manufacturers to offer a 25 year warranty when they were told, and admit knowing, that the shakes would not last that long? 5. The Government must compensate homeowners for this disaster. Financing a second roof (while the first roof still has up to 20 years left to pay on it) will mean the replacement cost can average $30,000.00 before the new roof has been paid for by the homeowner. This Government forgave Millar Western $244 Million in loan payments in 1997, yet it refuses to compensate homeowners for damages incurred through the government's errors! 6. Some other taxpayers have indicated that they are against handouts to rich people; we wonder how they feel about the handouts to Telus, Gainers, etc., which are always called "bad investments." Well, this is just another "bad investment", but in this case we should be getting restitution for losses incurred due to the negligence of the government of the day.
