About

Greetings from the Executive of the Alberta Pine Shake Homeowners Association (APSHA).

We evolved from the "Consumer Action Group" that was set up by concerned consumers based primarily in Edmonton, Sherwood Park, and St. Albert in May of 1998. This (untreated) pine shake problem had quickly escalated from an individual consumer problem to a major, province-wide concern.

Due to the magnitude of the problem, it was decided that an Association was needed to draw together all affected communities in Alberta. In January, 1999, APSHA was registered as a not-for-profit society. In accordance with the Societies Act, our financial records are subject to an annual audit. We elected an Executive, and appointed members to our Board of Directors.

Over the past two years, we sold over 5,000 memberships and obtained funding for legal costs to assist in seeking compensation. Information meetings were held at Grant MacEwan Community College in Edmonton on February 16, 1999; and in Calgary on Saturday, on Sep. 23 at 33 Edgevalley Circle. (You can see the slides, speaker notes, and Frequently Asked Questions which were presented at the GMCC meeting on Feb. 16. - switch to the "What's New" page and follow the links!)

Yours truly,

The Executive,
APSHA
